Thanks so much for reaching out! Motivational interviewing is open to all helping professionals. Dana has applied for, and is able to grant, CEU's through The Oregon Chapter of the National Association for Social Workers and the Commission on Dietetic Registration for this training.
So although we can't directly grant the CEU's for a XXXXXXXX, we're happy to offer a general certificate of completion and any other information that might help people to apply for CEU's through their accrediting organization.
For the Advanced training, Dana strongly suggests that people come in with a familiarity with Motivational interviewing. If someone has taken the Basic MI training or had some exposure to MI that’s beyond a 1-2 hour lecture, and is familiar with reflective listening and practice it regularly, then they'll probably be fine attending the advanced training. There is work on deepening reflective listening skills, and we find if people don’t know what reflective listening is, or they understand it in their heads but do not use reflections regularly in their client work, they can feel lost and frustrated in an advanced training.
