Hi T-Lee,

Thanks for writing and for the reminder that not all blanket terms apply to or land well with all of the folks in our community.

Using the term “holiday” for us is a more concise and inclusive way to refer to some upcoming, heavy-hitting cultural events that start to roll out this time of year, including various rituals and traditions, both secular and non-secular. Most of these events center food, eating, and expectation, and as such can be one of the most difficult times of year for folks struggling to maintain their body trust journey. We acknowledge that not everyone recognizes or celebrates every (or any) of these holidays. It’s our hope that for those folks who do find themselves in need of extra support connected to what is culturally called “the holiday season,” we can offer a bit of love and community.

Thanks again for your email.
